Declutter, Reorganize, Reinvent, Refocus, Repeat
During my past posts, I’ve focused a great deal on my journey to becoming an entrepreneur and some of the things that I’ve learned during the process. For the past several months, I’ve found myself searching for ways I can create sustainability in my business. This has led me to VA coach and mentor, Amanda Johnson, owner and operator of the VA Training Academy based in the UK.
I met Amanda while attending the PA Show in London England, earlier this year. At the time, I thought, my business was doing well so why would I need the services of a VA coach?
With that being said, when I came home and I started to really examine my business, little did I realize that were many holes which needed to be addressed. This led me to the question, what is a business coach and why would I consider working with one? For me, I felt I had to understand exactly what coaching was first.
According to the International Coaching Federation, which provides credentials for coaches world wide, coaching is defined “as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to be their best personal and professional selves.” (source: https://coachingfederation.org/guide-to-experiencing-coaching-for-individuals/).
Therefore, a business coach is a skilled business professional (and could be an expert in a particular type of business) that can help support with challenges you may be facing in your business, possibly a new direction you may be thinking of or support you with elevating your business to new heights. Since they are not involved in the day-to-day running of your business, they can help provide a different impartial perspective (source: https://www.bdc.ca/en/articles-tools/business-strategy-planning/manage-business/how-to-get-the-most-of-a-business-coach).
Understanding exactly what coaching was and in particular, business coaching, helped me to consider working with Amanda. Although I wasn’t sure what to expect, I jumped in with both feet and signed on.
Amanda’s knowledge, words of encouragement and her kind but direct approach, challenged me to do things, that I know I should be doing or thought about doing but was either too scared or couldn’t prioritize. Working with Amanda has been a game changer. I started to see my business differently and learned better ways of structuring the foundation of my business in order for it to be manageable and sustainable. At its most basic, I have learned how to effectively declutter, reorganize, reinvent, refocus and repeat.
I get it, I’ve gotten my business to this level of success, so why would I hire a coach? One thing I’ve come to learn is that even the biggest and most successful companies have had some help from an external source at some point. I’ve also come to realize that since I’m so invested, I may not always see what is missing, could be improved or could be added to continue the sustainability of my business success. Yes, hiring a coach is an investment but, I remind myself that this is an investment not only in my business success but also in myself as an entrepreneur.
As my business continues to grow and prosper, I know that I will continue to work with my coach to ensure that I always effectively declutter, reorganize, reinvent, refocus and repeat.
Thanks for reading my friends.
